3 November 2010: To Brussels

The last week of October Henk has spent a week in Brussels for a series of meetings. Although it's quite ok to keep in contact with Head Office in Brussels via e-mail and conference calls, this time it was better to get together and meet some of the IT colleagues from the various countries/Operating Companies in person. To ensure not too much time was lost in travelling and waiting at airports the trip had a tight schedule: depart from HK on Tuesday evening around midnight and the first meeting already at 9.30am in Brussels (6 hours time difference obviously helps in this case...) After the last meeting on Friday there was still some time for shopping in Brussels (there is a typical Dutch shop called HEMA in Brussels, hence we now also have our 'chocolate letters and other candy for Sinterklaas in December). Saturday morning the flight departed back to HK and hence, due to the time difference only back on Sunday morning).

18 March 2011: Agency dinner

Every year AICA organises an Agency dinner to honour the best performing Insurance agents on a special night. This is usually a big group, hence the location is usually a big ballroom in the Hong Kong Convention Centre.

The night consists of a (very good) dinner, there is a performance of some Cantonise artists and a lot of the agents receive an award, either because of their performance or because they've been with the company for some time. As with a lot of events in Hong Kong, there is obviously a lucky draw.....

18 March 2011: Conferences

On a regular basis Henk is invited to take part in panel discussions during seminars and conferences that are being organised in Hong Kong. Click on the image to see a short impression of the Singtel CIO Days that was organised on 18 March 2011.

22 May 2011: Visit to IBM Beijing

Last week Henk has been to Beijing for a few days to visit IBM China. One of the research centers of IBM Asia is in Beijing and there were a lot of Cloud computing experiences that could be demonstrated and presented in the research center. IBM arranged for an excellent hotem in the Northern part of Beijing within walking distance of some of the sports stadia that were built for the 2008 Olympics Saturday morning there was still some time to have a walk around and take some pictures.

28 August 2011: 1 year celebration Ageas Hong Kong

End of August Ageas Hong Kong 'celebrated' it's 1st year anniversary of adopting the new Brand and for this occasion every staff received a special Ageas shirt. See the following photo with (a part of) the IT department that Henk currently manages.

25 November 2011: London

In November Henk has attended the Ageas Annual Group IT convention to meet up with all heads of IT of the Ageas Group. This time the two day event was organised in London, close to the Tower of London. To reduce the impact of a jetlag, he departed from Hong Kong on Wednesday evening, the next morning at 9am the event started and almost immediately after the last session on Friday afternoon he left London again to fly back home
