7 February 2010: Disneyland and Chinese New Year

This weekend we have been to Disneyland (for a change .....) This time to see the special Chinese New Year celebratitions at the park. Except the 'standard' items Emily wants to see such as 'Its a small world' en Dumbo the Elephant ride, this time there was a special drum-session with Mickey Mouse and Tiger; the daily parade in Main Street was also changed to reflect the coming New Year: all the Disney Characters had special CNY clothes. See the pictures.

16 February 2010: Chinese New Year

This week it's Chinese New Year. Just like in Malaysia these are Public Holidays. Because CNY falls on Monday and Tuesday everyone has a long weekend. To celebrate the New Year (this time the Year of the Tiger) there are a lot of special decorations in Hong Kong. On the 1st day we have been to a parade (groups of dancers and floats). The parade was ok but not as spectacular as e.g. the annual parade in Kuala Lumpur. Today we have been to HK harbour where they also have a number of special decorations on display. It's possible to use them as background for a photo shoot; Emily was not really into it so we shot a few pictures of mama and Sophie....

11 April 2010: Holiday Netherlands

Because it was already more than a year ago we had seen our family, we had planned another trip back to The Netherlands in March/April '10. This time obviously from Hong Kong to Amsterdam with Cathay Pacific. We had a late flight (00:30) and hence both Emily and Sophie already fell asleep in the car on the way to the airport. Consequence was that both were awake again when the plane took off and hence started to annoy some of the other passengers by crying a bit .....

We spent the first few days (as usual) with the parents and family of Henk in Uithuizen. Everyone really enjoyed seeing us again, especially Emily and Sophie (for the 1st time !) of course. The weather was very nice, so we had sufficient opportunities for walking and riding the bicycles. The next stops were Almere (Mai - sister Jenny) and Amstelveen (Hung - brither Jenny) to Utrecht where we spent the last few days with Jenny's family (and doing our annual Dutch shopping...) Thursday afternoon we flew back to Hong Kong (after 2 weeks in NL): a good flight where Emily/Sophie enjoyed themselves with watching cartoons and sleeping.....

21 May 2010: Visit to Kuala Lumpur

Last week on Friday Hong Kong had a public holiday: Bhudda's Birthday. We therefore had planned a long weekend to Kuala Lumpur to visit a number of friends. After an early flight with Malaysia Airlines we arrived at KLIA around 1230pm. For convenience we had booked a car (Perodua Myvi) and after about a half hour drive we were "home" again: we were able to stay at the Kon's, friends living at Damansara Legenda, near to the place we stayed in Malaysia for 3 years. Before we knew it, it was already Monday again: we visited some friend in KL, we did some shopping and we especially had some great Malaysian food. Food wise Malaysia is definitely better than Hong Kong. For sure we'll visit KL again. See the pictures!

6 July 2010: Holiday Cebu - Philippines

End of June we have been on to Cebu for a short holiday. Cebu is one of the populair destinations in the Philippines and only takes about a 2.5 hours flight from Hong Kong. We booked a good hotel at one of the beaches and based on the weather (on average it was about 35 degrees and primarily clear skies with sunshine) we spent most of our time at the pools and the beach. The hotel had a fair number of good restaurants and an inside playground for kids, so Emily and Sophie had a very good time! See the photo's.
