This Monday it was Sophie's 1st birthday! Because she does not understand anything about birthdays yet, we did not make a big deal out of it. Jenny did invite some people from our flat over who have small children in Sophie's age, but unfortunately they were either sick or not really awake..., so we'll probably take care of that next year
Emily did know that it was Sophie's birthday and she even shared that spontaneously at her school. We gave Sophie a tipical 'toddler' present for her birthday (see photo) and got her (and Emily) some chocolate cake at night (see photo's)
23 March 2010: Emily's sports day
This week on Monday Emily's school has organised a sports day for the children. The event was held in the Hong Kong Football stadium on HK Island. Although Emily was quite excited before the day and explained a few times that she was having a sports day, on the actual day itself she apparently did not really feel like it anymore and did not want to participate in a lot of games. Eventually she managed to get excited about pulling the rope with her team and she still got a participation medal to take home :-)

1 May 2010: Emily birthday party
Emily turned 3 years on 28 April. because it was a regular school/work day, we decided to have a proper birthday party on Saturday 1st May. Emily invited all children from her class at school to the party at our home. In order to host all 25 kids and parents we had to rearrange most of our living room and we put in some decoration and balloons. Besides food, drinks and a lot of candy we ordered a special birthday cake. Everyone had fun at the party: see the photo's !
