| 31 August 2009: Emily 1st day at school
Today it was Emily's first day to school in Hong Kong. The new school year officially starts on September 1st, but most of the schools have started a few days earlier and hence Emily was able to join the school today. We have found a school nearby our apartment that is part of the Woodland group: the school uses a UK-based system and also gives some classes in Mandarin (besides the main language Chinese). The school is quite near Bel-Air, it takes a few minutes to get there by car. Because we don't have our own car yet, Emily is currently taking the bus. All schools in Hong Kong have their bus service that picks up the kids in the morning and drops them off after school (for a fee). There are a number of children that go to the same school as Emily, so she was picked up together with a small group of schoolmates. Apparently she was ok with it, even for the 1st time, because she did not cry when the bus arrived and she had to go inside by herself. She goes to school for a full day (a separate class in the morning and in the afternoon) so she only came back home around 4pm. Aparently the 1st day went pretty well and she had a lot of fun !
