26 May 2007: Outside again |
| After a month 'in confinement', Jenny and Emily were allowed to go outside again.
During the visits at the hospital and the Dutch Embassy, we already had the opportunity to 'test drive' the Maxi-Cosi, today it was the first time to use the Stroller!
So far, a car ride seems to be no problem for Emily: she is sound asleep for most of the time ! |
The stroller and Maxi-Cosi are a set: after assembling the stroller, the maxi-cosi can simply be attached to the stroller by clicking it into the bottom part. That saves us a lot of time and is also way more convenient for Emily: for only a short drive we don't have to bother her too much.
|

Today we went to Chinatown to do some shopping. Jenny's mother wanted to get her hair cut, and we also did some shopping in Petaling Street (the most famous street in Chinatown, where a lot of stalls sell watches, hand bags, DVD's etc (obviously fake and illegal, but who cares....

27 mei 2007: Full moon party |
During confinement, the mother has to rest and stay inside the house for 30 days. Because in this period very few people come to visit, it is common to celebrate the birth of the new baby by organising a 'Full moon' party, where family and friends are invited to see the new baby (and the mother).
Because we had not invited our friends and collegues to our house before, we decided to grasp this opportunity to organisa a Full moon party for Emily at our house in Damansara Legenda. |

We have invited a couple of Jennys friends, the staff of Henk his department and some other colleagues, the other expats at Mayban Fortis and our neighbours to join us at the party.
About 50 people showed up; most important ingredient of the party is obviously the food, therefore we hired a caterer to arrange everything for us: one day in advance a canopy was delivered in front of our house. On the day, a buffet was prepared and about 3 waiters were busy during the evening in serving the guests! |

13 June 2007: Passport
The Dutch passport for Emily was ready and therefore we could collect it at the Dutch Embassy in KL this week.See the photo of the main page at the left.
Obviously the data of Emily is used when we applied for the passport, therefore you could question how long this passport should last as a proper identification document. Within a month a baby does not look like the picture anymore, and also the lenght that is included in the passport will change within a week.
But basically that doesn't bother us: with this passport we can go to the Netherlands in about a weeks time without any problems !

22 June 2007: Regular check-up
Before we go on leave to The Netherlands, it was still time for Emilys two-month check-up at the hospital. Unfortunately our own doctor was on Emergency Leave and the assistant had forgotton to give us a call....
Fortunately another doctor was available, Dr. Soh (Chinese) whom we already knew from maternity classes. Everything is ok with Emily: she is now 6.5 kg and 62cm tall !
Today she got a 5-in-1 injection, against Hepatites, DTP, and some other things. Because every now and then children get some fever due to these injections, we asked for a bottle of baby-paracetamol and we gave her a first dose this afternoon. Aparently it dit not taste that well, because half of it landed on her clothes....... |

26 July 2007: 3 Months check-up
Today Jenny has been to Damansara Specialist Hospital again for the regular check up of Emily. Also this time the pediatrician has checked everything, all looks ok, and she has given Emily another injection for immunisation (see photo). The doctor also measured her again: Emily is now 7.5 kg and is 65 centimeters long.
The next check-up will be in 3 months time! |
